A fundraiser was held Sept 21/05 to raise money to purchase a Newgy robot for our
club. We are lucky to have found a used machine owned locally to cut our expenses
by more than half. After sending the robot back to Newgy for a 1000 mile checkup, it
will be available for all to use under strict guidelines in one of our multipurpose rooms.
Many who have never seen a robot before are excited to get in front of this relentless
and exhausting practice partner.

The tournament: was played on 7 tables in the main gym.
An initial round robin group of 3 per table started competition.
No upsets at this level as the players ranged from 1000 to 2100.

The second stage had the winners of each group move on to quarter final single
elimination. Ray Filz received a bye and was able to watch  Pablo Perez defeat T.P. Lee
3-1; Giancarlos Anselmo defeat Tom Miller 3-2;  and Bilal Soylu defeat Ha Trihn 3-2.

Ray Filz needed more than a rest as he lost to Pablo Perez 3-0 in the first semi final match.
Giancarlos Anselmo then defeated Bilal Soylu 3-0.

The finals were anticlimatic as Giancarlos Anselmo defaulted to Pablo Perez.
