They came from North & South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Tenessee, even Kansas, Ohio & New York.
They came, they played, they left without our prize money.
The top 4 seeds of the Open event were sent home by the 5th & 6th seeds.
Alex Hohl & Usher Huang destroyed them, then played in the final.
Actually the tournament was littered with upsets.
Our thursday night league is partly responsible for raising the level of all our players,
promoting intense hard fought matches over friendly weekly encounters.
We did experience a few problems regarding match etiquette, & there is no easy answer.
Players are "celebrating" single point victories without regard for ongoing neighbouring
matches, much less their opponent. While focused & intense players often react to
winning points with a fist pump and/or exclamation, some go too far yelling so loudly &
at every single point that they disrupt the whole room.
We will call you on this type of behavior in Charlotte.
Do yourself a favor & monitor your behavior so you can win or lose a match based on
your skill, & not be put of by an umpire warning that could possibly affect your match
outcome. Bottome line: check your volume.
& by the way, spectators need to check their bahavior as well, including coaches.
Cheering so loudly for your player that you disrupt the opponent is unaceptable.
Every net & edge point does not need a cheerleader or heckler. Grow up.
