Charlotte NC Winter Open 1 Star     2/27/05 - by John Pahl

The Charlotte winter open had 32 players in round robin format played  on 8 tables with all players advancing from a 4 person to 8 person group. 10 total singles matches as well as single elimination doubles within each class.  A very competetive class A had the top 4 players over 2000 separated by only 35 points.

Highlights: 3rd seed Guillermo Rosales perfect record earned him class A first place prize money. Stay home if you can't handle pips as they took 2nd in class B and 1st and 2nd in class C.  A slow start for both Chris O'Brian and Ira Goodman had them dominate class D while  Milind Phadke had a great first round earning himself a spot in class A after starting out 25th seed of 32. Players from Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and all over North Carolina rounded out the hometown club players to make it a fun & competetive event.
